At Switch, we don’t just design, build and operate data centers—we are enabling the technology of the future. Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.
We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design, model, and validate thermal and fluid systems used in Switch data center environments. This role exists to improve cooling performance, efficiency, and scalability through simulation-driven engineering and system modeling.
You will leverage CFD, 3D modeling, and system simulation tools to validate designs and support development of digital twin capabilities. Your work directly informs design decisions and supports Product Development, Design Engineering, and Construction teams.
Develop 3D CAD models for piping and fluid cooling systems
Perform CFD simulations to evaluate thermal and airflow performance
Conduct system-level simulations to assess cooling infrastructure performance
Analyze chiller and environmental performance under varying conditions
Support development of digital twins through simulation outputs and visualization
Collaborate with Design Engineering and Construction teams to validate system performance
Participate in system modeling activities using SysML or similar frameworks
Prepare and present technical reports based on simulation results
Translate modeling insights into design improvements
Contribute to continuous improvement of thermal and fluid system design practices
You apply strong fundamentals in heat transfer and fluid dynamics
You approach modeling and design with precision and attention to detail
You translate simulation results into practical engineering decisions
You communicate technical concepts clearly across teams
You collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments
You take ownership of work from modeling through validation
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with 3+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 1–2 years of experience
Strong background in heat transfer and fluid dynamics
Experience performing CFD simulations
Experience designing 3D CAD models for mechanical systems
Experience with industrial cooling systems, including chillers and piping
Ability to read and interpret piping diagrams and engineering schematics
Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or PTC Creo)
Experience with CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS or similar)
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred:
Experience in data center or AI infrastructure environments
Experience developing P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
Familiarity with system-level modeling tools (e.g., SysML, CATIA Magic)
Experience in rapid prototyping or product development environments
Exposure to power or infrastructure systems
We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification.
