As an Engineering Technician, you will support the design, prototyping, validation, and integration of hardware used in Switch data center environments. This role exists to translate engineering concepts into physical builds and validated solutions that can be deployed at scale.
You will work closely with the Hardware Design & Integration team to build prototypes, perform testing, and support product development from concept through deployment. Your work directly impacts product quality, performance, and readiness for production environments.
Build and install prototype systems and structural components to support product development
Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and build documentation
Execute validation and test plans, including functional and integration testing
Support proof-of-concept builds and evaluation of new hardware designs
Assist with research and evaluation of new materials, components, and technologies
Maintain lab environments, tools, and equipment used in development
Support QA/QC processes, including inspection and validation of parts and assemblies
Identify and document quality, fit, and performance issues during builds
Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action efforts
Support development of work instructions, test procedures, and build documentation
Review and interpret 3D models and technical drawings
Contribute to process improvements in build, testing, and development workflows
Support multiple projects and travel as needed to assist field and engineering teams
You take a hands-on approach to building and problem solving
You maintain high attention to detail and build quality
You follow technical processes while identifying ways to improve them
You communicate clearly with engineers and team members
You manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
You take ownership of your work and follow through to completion
Required:
Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
2–5+ years of experience in product development, lab technician, or similar technical role
Experience working with hand tools and fabrication equipment
Exposure to manufacturing processes and materials
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of product testing and validation processes
Preferred:
Experience working in data center or mission-critical environments
Experience with metal fabrication or structural systems
Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar design tools
Experience supporting prototype development and testing workflows
