The Role: Field Services Engineer I

As a Field Services Engineer I at Switch, you will support the installation and validation of infrastructure systems in Switch data center environments. This is an entry-level role focused on learning field engineering practices while assisting experienced engineers and construction teams.

You will help verify installations, support hardware integration, and confirm systems meet Switch design and operational standards. The role combines classroom learning with hands-on field experience in active construction and operational environments.

What You’ll Do

• Assist field engineers with installation and validation of electromechanical and infrastructure systems

• Review construction plans with supervisors and verify installations meet design specifications

• Work with contractors and subcontractors to confirm installations align with project plans

• Support hardware integration and equipment installation during construction projects

• Assist with troubleshooting field issues and escalate problems to senior engineers when needed

• Support testing, validation, and documentation of installed systems

• Help maintain lab environments and support system buildouts when design changes occur

• Track service metrics and report issues that affect project delivery

• Follow site safety standards, cleanliness requirements, and field procedures

What You’ll Bring

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 0–2 years of experience in construction, maintenance, operations, or a technical apprenticeship

• Basic familiarity with tools, equipment, or electromechanical systems

• Ability to learn to read blueprints and construction drawings

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Ability to communicate clearly in English

Preferred

• Technical training, certification, or coursework related to engineering, construction, or electrical systems

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools
