As Transmission & Interconnection Director, you lead the strategy and execution required to secure power for new large-load data center developments. You are accountable for interconnection applications, utility negotiations, and agreements that reserve capacity and fund required grid upgrades.
You ensure each project stays on a predictable path to energization. You manage utility relationships, escalate risks early, and create the operating structure that allows multiple projects to move forward in parallel.
This role directly influences project timelines, capital exposure, and infrastructure risk.
Own the end-to-end utility coordination and load interconnection process across multiple data center developments
Submit and manage all interconnection and service request packages, ensuring complete and utility-ready documentation
Lead negotiation and execution of service agreements, interconnection agreements, facilities agreements, construction agreements, special contracts, and amendments
Track utility study milestones, upgrade scopes, construction timelines, and energization schedules
Escalate risks that threaten capacity, schedule, or cost certainty
Translate customer power, reliability, and sustainability requirements into clear scopes for engineering and delivery teams
Partner with Legal and Regulatory teams on tariff approvals, filings, testimony preparation, and negotiation strategy
Coordinate with utilities and ISO or RTO stakeholders where applicable, understanding each party’s role and governance structure
Monitor evolving large-load integration policies and utility screening practices, translating impacts into near-term strategy
Align finance, operations, and legal stakeholders on contract structure, cost allocation, and risk management
Maintain centralized records of agreements, amendments, and performance metrics
Review and summarize utility tariffs and large-load provisions across current and prospective markets
Operates with accountability and clarity in regulated environments
Makes independent decisions that shape project timing and risk exposure
Leads cross-functional alignment across engineering, legal, finance, and development teams
Communicates complex tariff and interconnection topics in clear, practical terms
Anticipates regulatory and market shifts affecting large-load customers
Builds trusted relationships with utilities, regulators, and industry stakeholders
Creates structure and process that reduce surprises and disputes
Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
8+ years of experience in utility coordination, transmission and distribution planning interface, large-load service delivery, or energy infrastructure project development
Direct experience managing end-to-end interconnection or utility engagement processes
Experience negotiating utility-facing agreements, including service, interconnection, facilities, or construction agreements
Working knowledge of utility tariffs, large-load provisions, and OATT concepts
Experience managing multi-site schedules and tracking study milestones and load forecasts
Strong project management skills and advanced proficiency in Excel
Preferred:
Experience supporting regulatory filings or engagement with public utility commissions or federal agencies
Experience supporting hyperscale data center or other high-demand load projects
Familiarity with ISO or RTO planning and governance processes
