The Role: Field Services Engineer

As a Field Services Engineer at Switch, you will be part of a world-class team that operates in excellence, delivering mission-critical solutions that redefine what’s possible in AI, cloud and enterprise data center needs. Your work will directly impact the future of technology and the sustainable growth of the Internet.

In this role you are responsible for onsite support and validation of construction process and results based on general contractor (GC) installation methods and will drive approval and corrective action based on field observations and verification against construction drawings and engineering information. You are responsible for structural, hardware and equipment validation as well as build out and support of the EVO lab and test space based in the LAS market.

What You’ll Do

  • Meet with GC and subcontractors, go through all plans and verify build from the owner’s perspective.
  • Act as remote support for sites located in other regions between onsite visits.
  • Assist construction CM/PMs with specific Hardware design and integration installs.
  • Coordinate and schedule field activities, ensuring timely completion of installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Act as a technical escalation SME for complex construction issues and ensure effective resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Engineering, Product Development, and Customer Support to ensure alignment and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), service metrics, and customer feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with cleanliness and safety in all field operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support the rollout of new technologies and systems in the field.
  • Provide direct electro-mechanical trouble shooting and repair as needed.

What You'll Bring

  • A strong technical and construction background, excellent leadership skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades in the data center environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand schematics related to data center support equipment with ease.
  • Excellent presentation and customer service skills.
  • A strong technical and construction background, excellent leadership skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with confidence plus clear, concise communication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)
  • Previous experience with ProCore and Project Management Software
  • Hands-on knowledge of CAD modeling software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Reliable transportation and a state issued drivers license is a must for this position.
  • At least 1+ years’ experience in Superintendent or Journeyman Level Construction roles is required.
