The Role: Project Manager, Software Engineering

As a Project Manager, Software Engineering at Switch, you will be part of a world-class team that operates in excellence, delivering mission-critical solutions that redefine what’s possible in AI, cloud and enterprise data center needs. Your work will directly impact the future of technology and the sustainable growth of the Internet.

As a self-driven, highly motivated Project Manager you will lead cross-functional software engineering initiatives. In this role you will thrive in dynamic environments, communicate effectively, fosters team collaboration, and champion continuous improvement through structured facilitation and strong leadership. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely delivery of complex projects, sustaining operational excellence, and pragmatically supporting both Agile and Waterfall practices across our engineering efforts.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage cross-functional projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring scope, timelines, and budgets are met.
• Build and maintain detailed schedules, track execution at the task level, and monitor project milestones and dependencies.
• Identify risks and issues early, develop mitigation plans, and escalate when necessary.
• Feature sound leadership capabilities that drive team alignment around clear objectives.
• Provide guidance and leadership directly with engineering teams driving towards optimal delivery performance.
• Interface with senior and executive leadership to communicate project status, needs, and technical insights.
• Leverage a strong working knowledge of project management methodologies – including waterfall and Agile/Scrum – with hands-on experience guiding teams toward consistent, high-impact delivery.
• Agile and Scrum responsibilities may include, for example
  • Facilitate key Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews.
  • Track sprint progress, velocity, and team health metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Coach teams through Agile maturity and adoption of best practices.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to groom backlogs and prioritize features for delivery.
  • Align team capacity with deliverables to ensure balanced commitments.
  • Represent the delivery team in planning discussions and govern sprint scope effectively.
  • Help remove impediments and shield teams from distractions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Drive next-level innovation in Product Development to support our mission-critical infrastructure.
• Work in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where execution is key.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in the field of Project or Program management, including methodologies like Waterfall, Scrum and Agile.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication – ability to deliver crisp updates and presentations to executive management, stakeholders and customers.
• Proven experience managing customer relationships and stakeholder expectations effectively.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Efficient planning capabilities who excel at aligning teams around clear objectives.
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Asana, Smartsheet or Microsoft Project.
• PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
• Solid and hands-on experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies; Scrum Master certification and/or SAFe Agilist certification is desired.
