General Purpose of the Position:
The Senior Account Executive is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing and executing strategies to acquire, retain, and expand Mid-Market Accounts. Acting as a client advocate, the Senior Account Executive will collaborate across Switch teams to provide innovative solutions that meet our current and prospective clients evolving business needs. Through strategic engagements and business discussions, the Senior Account Executive will strengthen client partnerships to foster success and identify opportunities for client growth in alignment with company objectives. This position will report to the VP of Mid-Market Accounts.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, hybrid environments, and data center operations
- Industry specific knowledge with focus on technology trends and advancements, particularly in IT and data center technologies
- Identify and mature sales leads through the full opportunity lifecycle while maintaining a detailed and accurate pipeline forecast
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through consistent client engagement and thoughtful business reviews
- Maintain comprehensive and precise documentation of account information and activities within Salesforce
- Consistently demonstrate technical aptitude in understanding clients’ technology landscapes, workloads, and priorities to inform long-term sales and account strategies
- Act as an escalation point for client challenges and solution to advance resolution
- Collaborate across internal teams to identify and support advancement of strategic initiatives to meet company objectives
- Lead strategic and technically informed data center tours tailored to understanding of clients’ unique business needs
- Stays current with industry advancements to understand the impact of emerging trends and technologies on client deployments
- Manage personal social media accounts to reflect a positive and professional image
- Support sales leadership in meetings with accurate and effective communication

Required Job Skills:
- Strong business acumen with an in-depth understanding of the data center industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage clients effectively
- Effective decision making which promotes reciprocal outcomes for clients and Switch
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address client issues and identify opportunities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
- Skilled negotiator with an aptitude for driving complex renewals and new Mid-Market opportunities to closure
- Possible travel up to 15% of the time, as needed
- Required to intermittently work weekends and/or off-hours to support tour schedules or industry events
Computer Equipment and Software:
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office 365
- Intermediate skills in Salesforce or another CRM toolset
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree - In Business, Marketing, IT, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years in sales, account management, or a related role, preferably within the IT or data center industry
