Power Program Manager

Department: Sustainability
Location: Las Vegas, NV

General Purpose of the Position:

This position will provide analytical support for projects and initiatives that help shape Switch’s corporate strategy around long-term power supply and sustainability plans. The work will focus heavily on quantitative analysis, infrastructure buildout and researching the feasibility and potential of new energy technologies in the energy space. This position will work cross departmentally to build new tools, reports, and dashboards that allow for greater visibility into load forecast processes and power supply activities. A deep understanding of the energy sector and electric utility planning processes is a must.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing detailed reporting of ongoing power supply and sustainability activity, market data, trends and related topics 
  • Building and automating financial reports, performing deep-dive analysis into performance metrics, and providing strategic recommendations to improve financial outcomes
  • Generating monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that provide insights into financial results, trends, and key metrics
  • Monitoring power price data in existing and new campus locations and tracking industry news and events that could impact power markets
  • Working with cross departmental teams to create load forecasts for new and existing locations and develop tracking mechanisms and tools to continually monitor and refine load forecasts to support power supply activities
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to help develop transmission and distribution plans for new locations
  • Reviewing and summarizing utility tariffs in existing and new locations
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis as needed to support business units with financial data and insights
  • Researching the cost effectiveness and potential of new technologies for supply and demand-side energy resources
  • As the role evolves over time, interacting with market participants including utilities, energy retailers, trade associations, C&I buyers, and others, in market outreach, relationship development, and assessing and providing solutions to serve buyers' interest
  • Identifying and developing innovative cost savings projects (capital and operational) and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply
  • Supporting and managing multiple technically complex power projects across multiple states by facilitating close collaboration between internal and external stakeholders

 

Required Job Skills:

  • In-depth market knowledge of energy sector and electric utility planning processes
  • Exceptional data management skills with a proven ability to work with large datasets and extract actionable insights
  • Excellent analytical, time management, communication, decision making, presentation, and organization skills with the ability to resolve problems in a timely manner 
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate, get creative and drive business teams to expediently develop executable projects
  • A history of collaboration, problem solving and communication that drives overall team success

 

Computer Equipment and Software:

  • Proficient in Microsoft and Power BI
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel is a must and additional experience in at least one programming language is preferred

 

Education and Experience:

Education:                   

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution

Experience:                  

  • Minimum five years related work experience
  • Experience working at a utility or working directly with utilities is strongly preferred
