Senior Buyer - Construction Procurement

Department: Procurement
Location: Las Vegas, NV

General Purpose of the Position:

The Switch Procurement division is seeking a brilliant Senior Buyer to lead, maintain, and promote a history of exceptional integrity and reputation of the Construction Purchasing department. This role involves collaborating closely with and supporting project and finance teams and requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare purchase orders and change orders with appropriate documentation and details
  • Maintain accurate job cost allocation for projects
  • Understand the full flow of the purchasing process and how each function interrelates across departments
  • Expedite orders placed by the project team to ensure compliance with cost and budget constraints
  • Communicate purchase order information effectively to vendors and project team members
  • Execute tasks assigned by senior project team members efficiently and timely
  • Manage multiple projects independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with internal clients regarding subcontract progress and accomplishments

  • Ability to prioritize, adapt and pivot throughout a workday
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Computer Equipment and Software:

  • Thorough working knowledge of various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excel skills are a requirement
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards strongly preferred

 

Education and Experience:

Education:                   

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, supply chain management, a related field, or equivalent on-the-job experience

Experience:                  

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing in the construction industry
