General Purpose of the Position:
This position is responsible for oversight of risk and safety as well as maintaining the overall corporate compliance with all Federal, State and Local worker safety and environmental laws. This position reports to the Director of Safety. This position may require the candidate/employee to undergo additional background checks and drug screenings prior to and during the course of employment in support of customer-specific deployments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position carries out only indirect supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws as this position currently has no direct reports. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to… safety program oversight, policy enforcement, training and education, assessment of risks across the organization, incident investigations, compliance monitoring, communication, safety culture promotion and reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for reporting any unsafe situations or events immediately
- Document, track and report all safety incidents and reported near misses
- Review all accidents of employees, customers and contractors to determine root cause and recommend any changes that need to be made
- Maintain OSHA compliance – Postings, logs, written programs, training, training records, audits, Safety Data Sheets, follows laws for changes, communication of requirements to all employees, interpretation of standards as they apply to Switch
- Act as the liaison between OSHA inspectors, other regulatory inspectors as well as insurance company representatives
- Maintain environmental compliance – Monitors and documents any spills or unintentional releases
- Monitor use of Personal Protective Equipment and recommend changes or additions as needed
- Review and recommend ergonomic devices as needed
- Monitor news and industry forums for worker related safety issues that might apply to Switch and disseminate that information which is applicable
- Conduct routine and non-routine safety audits and recommend safety improvements as needed
- Participate in the Quarterly Corporate Safety Meeting and take part in other departmental safety meetings as needed and respond to safety questions from all employees on all shifts at their assigned region/location
- Reports weekly on all current activity and maintains current accident statistics
- Complete all Federal documentation and submit it annually, as required
- Monitor safety program compliance and conduct training as needed
- Purchase safety equipment as needed
- Conduct inspections and maintain the log of all AED units

- High School Diploma/GED, required
- Associate’s degree, preferred
Experience:
- Two years basic safety knowledge/previous training or two or more years at Switch in an operational role
