Director of Hospitality

General Purpose of the Position:

As an experienced and dedicated Director of Hospitality, lead and manage the tour and meeting/event functions of our facilities. In this role, you will play a crucial part in organizing and overseeing all activities to ensure a seamless and exceptional experience. As a leader and problem solver, you will manage, guide and support a small team, empowering them to reach their full potential.

This detail-oriented professional must have a passion for delivering outstanding service and a knack for creating a hospitable environment. Your responsibilities will include coordinating various functions, implementing efficient processes and maintaining high quality standards. Excellent communication and organizational skills are vital for this role. Learn and deliver the Switch tour. The Director of Hospitality will report to the VP of Engagement.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to: training and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the scheduling and execution of prospective client, finance, marketing, team member and spectator data center tours, both physical and virtual
  • Learn and deliver the Switch tour to potential investors, clients, spectators, etc
  • Communicate with tour attendees to track attendance, tour agreements and confirmations, and any additional requirements for their time at Switch
  • Oversee the planning of all client-focused meetings and events with various levels of scope, including high-profile events
  • Manage all aspects of meeting and event planning including but not limited to: project management, venue management, logistics, operations, technical & AV production, food & beverage/catering, travel management, content integration, creative ideation, décor and other event production elements
  • Correspond professionally with vendors, executives, clients, team members and other key stakeholders
  • Coordinate with various departments, such as Security, Audio/Visual and Data Center Operations to ensure seamless execution and processes
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team in the scheduling and execution of tour scheduling, and meeting/event planning
  • Identify, develop, and document protocols and processes for increased efficiency
  • Prepare documentation for executive approval and oversight to include tour and event timelines, logistics, travel arrangements, etc
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts and ensure quality and cost effective service delivery
  • Interact with guests in a manner that reflects the standards of Switch
  • Respond promptly and courteously to all telephone and email inquiries
  • Collect feedback and resolve challenges or issues promptly and satisfactorily
  • Availability to be on-site in Las Vegas at any time, up to 5 days a week if needed (hybrid, in-office and remote based on tours/events/meetings)

Required Job Skills:

  • Management experience of teams and projects, both remote and in person
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and confident under pressure
  • Flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environment
  • Experience working with senior executives
  • Strong organization skills with impeccable attention to detail

 

Computer Equipment and Software:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and SharePoint
  • Familiarity with Asana a plus
  • Adept at learning new software applications

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, hospitality management, business, or related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years’ experience in event planning or event production
