Systems Administrator I

Department: Network Operations
Location: Las Vegas, NV

*This position can be based in any of our current locations.

 

General Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this position is to research, test, and deploy new technologies into Switch’s technology ecosystem. Maintain information technology strategies by researching and implementing strategic solutions to resolve current or future issues and plan for Switch’s future growth and expansion plans. Includes all aspects of Linux and Windows Server System Administration including, but not restricted to, server design / configuration / support, VMware, SAN, Active Directory, performance monitoring, advanced troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Manage relationships with and serve as a liaison with external technical support and vendors.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to: training and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees Switch’s IT infrastructure
  • Is primarily responsible for all new technologies introduced into Switch’s technology ecosystem
  • Maintains organizations effectiveness and efficiency by researching and supporting plans and policies for information technologies on how problems are identified, received, documented, distributed, and corrected
  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Maintain IT Service Level Agreements and response times with all departments within Switch
  • Implement IT projects, keeping to due dates and providing regular updates to stakeholders and upper management as appropriate
  • Document categorization of work and time tracking related to Projects and IT Service Management
  • Provide systems documentation to help desk to reduce escalations

 

Other Duties:

  • Mentorship / Training of junior staff
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude expected
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Tier 2 support for day-to-day management of infrastructure solutions
  • Participate in on-call rotation, ensuring proper resolution to escalated issues

 

Required Job Skills:

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan, implement, and accomplish goals
  • Technical understanding, ability to analyze and diagnose information, problem solving, developing proof of concept plans, and quality control

 

Computer Equipment and Software:

  • Experience with information security practices and compliance tools
  • Azure AD and Active Directory Administration
  • Office365, Teams, SharePoint Online, Intune
  • Scripting or Ansible automation
  • Microsoft Server Operating Systems 2012 R2 and up
  • Experience with MySQL and relational databases
  • Experience with Web Servers, DNS, Logging, E-Mail systems
  • Experience with Configuration Management and Package Management tools
  • Service Ticket Management Systems and ITIL fundamentals
  • Experience with IT Monitoring Systems
  • Experience with Device Management suites
  • Experience with VDI Administration
  • User Authentication Systems
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery Tools
  • Experience with Source Control systems
  • Experience with Documentation tools

 

Education and Experience:

Certification:

Security+ required

CompTIA A+ and Network+, Microsoft MCSA, MCSE, MD-101, PL-900, SC-900, AZ-500, AZ-900 preferred

ISO and ITIL Certifications optional

Education:

Trade School, Classroom training in IT Administration

Experience:

8 years minimum experience in the IT field and previous administration experience
