DCO Development Technician I

Department: Data Center Operations
Location: Las Vegas, NV

General Purpose of the Position:

The primary responsibility will be focused on light duty construction tasks and overall assembly/installation of various mechanical items throughout the facility. Main areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to: office and conference room builds installation of facility aesthetic elements and general facility maintenance.  This individual will work with the team of fellow technicians to meet build due dates and verify project readiness.    

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Detailed attention to assembly/construction tasks assigned by DCO Development Supervisor
  • Perform journey level work while maintaining and constructing a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures
  • Ensure that all assigned tasks are completed with an acceptable level of cleanliness
  • Perform quality assurance checks on all work completed
  • Maintenance of supply and tool inventory used by Development
  • The data center is 24 hour/7 day operation and this person may be required to work extended hours during peak work periods and availability to work weekends
  • Preparing a job site, loading and delivering materials and using a variety of tools and machines, such as forklifts, boom lifts (man lifts), levels, power drills, grinders, saws, and pressure washers
  • Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding and other temporary structures
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Required Job Skills:

Applicant must have a demonstrated mechanical aptitude and/or light duty construction experience. This experience may be acquired via educational background or previous hands on experience from a skilled trade. Must also demonstrate excellent verbal, interpersonal communication skills; the ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively with personnel associated with the data center environment; the ability to analyze and make suggestions for problem resolution; the ability to solve problems with good initiative and sound judgment and make decisions independently with minimal guidance. Must also have an understanding of safety requirements related to the construction field.  Must be able to climb ladders, bend and lift a minimum of 50lbs.

  • Must have experience with a variety of hand tools and power tool, understand associated safety practices
  • Must have a demonstrated ability for dimensional measurement
  • Must be able to read blueprints and understand schematics related to data center support equipment
  • Be able to pass OSHA certification

Education and Experience:

Certification:        Any certifications related to the job field

Education:           High school diploma or equivalent experience and training

Experience:         Minimum 2 years’ experience in production, facilities, mechanical maintenance or relevant field experience

 

Physical Demands

The data center is 24 hours/7-day operation.  This position requires the ability to work effectively under pressure and multi-task and supervise multiple projects simultaneously. This person may be required to work extended hours during peak work periods.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, use hands, carry supplies, operate power tools, perform work on a ladder and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision.

This position will include exterior facility work.  Applicant must be able to work both indoors and outdoors while utilizing environmental safety practices.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

If your position requires you to work in the field and/or warehouse, it is mandatory that you wear approved Personal Protective Equipment.
