General Purpose of the Position:
The Electrical Special Projects Technician will be an active member of the installation team focused on the installation of electrical infrastructure as required for customer installation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position carries out no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Main areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to: installation of liquid tite, receptacles, installation of colored wire per electrical code, termination of breakers in RPP, testing, sending of code sheets and installation of grounding infrastructure
- Coordination with customers and other departments for the installation of service related electrical installations
- Direct communication with upper management in regards to install schedule and assigned daily tasks
- Direct interface with customers regarding support tickets requests
- Ensure that all assigned tasks are completed with an acceptable level of cleanliness
- Perform quality assurance checks on all work completed
- Maintain appearance and communication for all Customer Service opportunities
- Self-motivated to help and learn in all areas of our department outside their direct supervisor position
Other Duties:
- Performs other assignments (or duties) as required
- Work in live electrical equipment, PPE in compliance with current NFPA 70E
Required Job Skills:
- Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; be able to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work on systems installed in the data center environment
- Utilize good initiative, analytical skills and sound judgement to solve problems and make decisions
- Ability to interface with the operations and construction teams on a daily basis
- Works with direction and works independently with an interest in quickly learning and applying new skills and abilities
- Identifies and prioritizes tasks and plans workload effectively
- Demonstrates a willingness to work hard with a sense of urgency and a respect for deadlines
- Background in electrical service/maintenance
Computer Equipment and Software:
- Intermediate working knowledge of various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Education and Experience:
Certification: Licensed Electrical Journeyman in the state of employment
Education: High School or GED
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of electrical experience or 4 years working in Switch’s Construction Department
