General Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the installation, startup, and commissioning of new critical infrastructure equipment to include, but are not limited to: HVAC support systems, Generators, UPS, PDU, STS, ATS, power distribution, monitoring and control systems. This individual will work to find creative ways to keep operational costs to a minimum and will work outside of the box with team members to improve efficiency.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to: training; planning, assigning, delegating, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create, implement, and monitor policies and procedures
- Work with General, Electrical, and Mechanical contractors to ensure installations meet Switch standards
- Work with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to commission and functionally test new systems
- Educate and enforce NFPA70E to entire team to ensure employee safety at all times
- Assist Director of Integration and support staff with field coordination efforts and ensure all deadlines are met for client turnover
- Schedule and/or coordinate with facility manger with setting up maintenance windows to notify customers of work being performed
- Support of construction, research, and development activity
Other Duties:
- Oversight and execution of assigned projects and programs
- Assist with operations if needed
- Work in live electrical equipment, PPE in compliance with current NFPA 70E
- Ability to answer work related emails after hours and weekends in a timely manner, engaging/coordinating projects during these times if absolutely necessary

- Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively with contractors installing, performing maintenance or upgrade work on systems installed in the data center environment
- Ability to analyze and make suggestions for problem resolution
- Utilize good initiative, analytical skills and sound judgement to solve problems and make decisions independently with minimal guidance
- Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems that may be employed in a data center environment. This may include electrical feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, DC power systems, ATS/STS units, PDU units, air handling units, cooling towers, pumping, and fire suppression systems
- Identifies and prioritizes tasks and plans workload effectively
- Demonstrates a willingness to work hard with a sense of urgency and a respect for deadlines
- Must be familiar with safety requirements and OSHA regulations governing a multi-megawatt facility
- Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings
Computer Equipment and Software:
- Intermediate working knowledge of various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

- Minimum 6 years experience in production, facilities, electrical, or mechanical maintenance with 2 years leadership experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in Project Management
Physical Demands:
Travel is required for this position.
The data center is a 24 hour/7 day operation. This position requires the ability to work effectively under pressure and multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. This person may be required to work extended hours during peak work periods and must be able to read and understand various color codes on components, wiring, and equipment.
