The Role: Staff Accountant
As a Staff Accountant at Switch, you will be part of a world-class team that operates in excellence, delivering mission-critical solutions that redefine what’s possible in AI, cloud and enterprise data center needs. Your work will directly impact the future of technology and the sustainable growth of the Internet.
In this role you will be responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers; preparing and analyzing budgets; participating in the completion of various department or audit related projects and performing general bookkeeping. You will also work collaboratively with the General Accounting team.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare journal entries including supporting documentation.
- Assist in the review and analysis of general ledger accounts, including reconciliation, adjusting entries and regular monitoring.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Correspond with other departments to ensure proper accounting of day-to-day business activities.
- Assist in the smooth and timely closing and preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations.
- Assist in the quarterly reviews and annual audit.
- Process expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and record adjusted and reclassified journal entries, if necessary.
- Perform general ledger analysis, which may include items related to treasury, fixed assets, employer benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, and interim financial reporting.
- Accounting for fixed assets including reconciliation and tracking of the Company’s fixed asset schedules.
- Ad hoc analysis as requested.

What You'll Bring
- The ability to apply the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that include analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
- Prior experience working in a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- A high level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- The ability to demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and you keep current with developments and trends.
- The knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs and are proficient in computer programs such as: JD Edwards and Blackline.
- Prior experience with the creation of monthly reconciliations.
- Prior experience with the recording and upkeep of fixed assets.
- A thorough understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Outlook with a thorough understanding of spreadsheets and excel capabilities.
- You have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and/or two or more years of experience in the accounting field.
